Dinny McGinley Bows Out of Politics
Fine Gael TD Dinny McGinley has decided to retire next year after 25 years in politics. The 63-year-old Deputy, a former teacher, said it was time to 'hand on the baton' and said his election in 1982 and his success in six subsequent elections were the highlights of his career. Deputy McGinley's only regret was the fact that, on too many occasions, he found himself speaking in the Dáil about job losses in Donegal.
McGinley will be sorely missed in Donegal politics as he is a gentleman with the peoples' interests at heart.
Fine Gael South West Councillor Terence Slowey won the nomination to represent the Party at the next election.

The illegal dump at Ballintra Mountain includes household rubbish, cars, furniture and dead animals and is adjacent to the lake which provides water to the islanders.
A scheme was introduced to encourage people to dispose of their waste properly but a more responsible attitude needs to be developed on the Island and throughout Donegal.
